Michael Smull, Facilitator
Develop a One-Page Description That:
-Is a positive way to introduce yourself
-Helps others see past the disability to the person you are
-Provides critical information about how you are best supported in specific situations and environments
-Perfect for use with prospective employer, new co-workers, healthcare providers, fellow students, etc.
Who should attend? This workshop was designed for transition-aged self-advocates to attend with 1-3 family or community members.
What is a Person-Centered Description? It is a powerful advocacy tool that can be used for people of every age and with every issue. They begin with a positive introduction–what we like, admire and appreciate about a person–then delineate what is important to that person and how best to support them. Participants of this workshop will create a first draft of their own description and have the opportunity for a 1:1 follow-up with Michael.
Cost is $25/group (Group=Self-advocate attending with 1-3 family or community members)
Fee includes lunch.
